Brown soda bread

ingredients:

  • 400 g extra coarse wholemeal flour

  • 35 g wheatgerm

  • 35 g wheat barn

  • 20 g baking soda

  • 1 egg

  • 500 ml buttermilk

  • salt

  • handful of oat flakes

  • 1 tsp black treacle (optional for colour)



cooking instructions:

Mix the egg with the buttermilk, and then mix the dry ingredients and add them together and add it to to the wet mix.Grease with oil a loaf pan and pour the bread mix into it,with oily hand pat the top to have an even surface,add oat flakes for decoration.Bake it on 170C for 45-50 min,then take it out of the loaf pan and bake it for an additional 10 min.

Wait until completely cooled,at least 3-4 hrs before slicing it up,serve it with any topping you like.
